Discuss.

Taken in Williamsburg. Discuss among ourselves.

What have you done for it?

Kiss today goodbye,
The sweetness and the sorrow.
Wish me luck, the same to you.
But I can't regret
What I did for love, what I did for love.
Look my eyes are dry.
The gift was ours to borrow.
It's as if we always knew,
And I won't forget what I did for love,
What I did for love.
Gone,
Love is never gone.
As we travel on,
Love's what we'll remember.
Kiss today goodbye,
And point me t'ward tomorrow.
We did what we had to do.
Won't forget, can't regret
What I did for
Love
What I did for...
Love

4th of July!

New York style, a.k.a. dining al fresco and peering between and above buildings for visions of explosions in the sky. Love it.

(And check that out, my 4th post in July is re: the 4th of July! =D)

Sonic Youth

Yes, YES, I got to see Sonic Youth live and in concert this past Friday. I was just saying after my drum lesson on Tuesday that of all bands, I really want to see them perform before they stop touring, and lo and behold, my friend Courtney asked me on Wednesday if I wanted to go to their show! I'm telling you, just put out your wishes and desires to the universe. Out loud. It works.

The show was at the United Palace at Broadway and 175th Street. I think the space is mostly used for a church now, and there were quotes inside from Reverend Ike and the outside marquee announced his work. I think it would be quite a fun experience to go to church there. Not that I think they serve popcorn like they did at the Sonic Youth show, but still, it would be pretty rockstar to worship there.

The building itself is quite stunning and remarkable, both inside and out. Add that to the show, and you know it, it was quite picture-worthy.

By the way, I just want to go on record and say that I especially love Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore. Not to overshadow the rest of the amazing band, but I just think they're swell. I have a couple crush on them, and I think we would have fun if we hung out. I'm just saying.

Love to you all. Go do what you've always wanted to do!

The titles make the pictures even better.

I am a HUGE fan of Tara McPherson and her work. I was perusing some of her newer stuff recently, and I was taken by how the titles she gives to her pieces really add a whole other layer of what I get from her art. Here are some of my favorite recent sentiments, and a summary of my life feelings lately:

"My Love Flows Out Like a Waterfall and Goes Nowhere"

"Playing With Fire - The Lover"

"Playing With Fire - The Healer Drawing"

"Laughing Through the Chaos Of It All"

The different mediums and takes on the same outlines/concepts also switch the feel for me. Love them all, in different ways, for various reasons.

Oh, BTW, she's NYC based. =D Even if you aren't, go visit: http://www.taramcpherson.com/ And buy something(s).

Love,

I do know.

My lovely friend wrote me the following today, in sharing about herself:

Getting off the ground is just SO many little steps but we're trying to do it all in the right way so there's nothing left to chance you know?

She is launching a new line, Pre-K, which is well-designed and fun streetwear for babies and kids. (So cute I've already picked out pieces to get for the nephews.) I totally understand and empathize with what she wrote and is going through to build her new business and move it on up. So I said so. But it was interesting for me to hear her as a friend, share in that, and then later today, have it just hit me, yes, I really do know. Not just in a "I know what you're saying," but realize, yes, I do know, for you, for me, and for the way processes, successes, and great things happen.

I know the feeling of needing to take care of the this and this and this that may be unseen by the outside eye but is the here and now you have to get through. I know the checking, re-checking, questioning, reviewing the details, and repeating that occur while you're wishing it would all just be successful and to the next level (but really 10 above that) already. There are so many steps, some even minute and could-be-forgotten, but doing it the "right" way makes one (me) feel comfortable in taking more away from just chance. Even if it means going slow(-er than planned), doing it over, taking a new path, rerouting. . . Doing it how you see right and not compromising what you have a choice not to makes all the difference.

Thank you for the reminder, sweet Renatta.

Love someone.
